I knew George for over 40 years as a fellow journalist, a friendly competitor and personal friend. He was well educated, a beautiful writer and had a wide circle of friends. He was also an original thinker always looking for a better way to do things and seeing humor in the way things were. In addition to his journalism career he was politically active and deeply involved in the campaign to preserve western Lakewood as a residential area. We are saddened by his passing.

George was an important member of our Rowfant Club where he managed the Friday lectures, was on our Board of Fellowes, and was a reliable "cog" in keeping our club machinery working. He was also a reliable erudite conversationalist at our club luncheons and dinners. He will be greatly missed.
