Jerome Loss Obituary

Jerome "Jerry" Loss, 81, passed away peacefully at his home in North Olmsted surrounded by family on Friday March 6th.

Jerry was born May 6, 1938, in Fairmont WV to the late Frank and Gazella Loss and lived there until he was 18.  He then moved to Ohio and began college. He also started his long career at the East Ohio Gas Company where he met his loving wife of 58 years, Elaine.  In 1961 he was drafted into the US Army where he proudly served on active duty for two years and remained in the reserves until 1967.

Jerry retired from the East Ohio Gas Company in 1994.  While there he met and remained close to many of his long-time friends.  Their group enjoyed weekly Tuesday morning breakfasts and together with their spouses enjoyed monthly plays and the fun of gambling trips.

Jerry attended St. Brendan Catholic Parish where his faith was strongly rooted.  He was a contributor to many charities and believed in always giving to those in need.

Survived by his loving wife Elaine (nee Ehrbar), their two children, Diane Brookins (Mike) and Sharon Spiewacki (Mark) and two grandchildren Marissa and Matthew.  In addition to his in-laws and many nieces and nephews, he also leaves behind many good friends. Of particular mention is his best friend and surrogate nephew, Ziad (Zee) Darabed and his family, who were always with him in his time of need.

The family will receive friends WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11TH, FROM 4-8 PM AT THE DAVID G. MARTENS & SON FUNERAL HOME 4175 ROCKY RIVER DR. (between Lorain & Puritas), CLEVELAND.  The Funeral Mass will be THURSDAY, MARCH 12TH, AT 10 AM  AT ST. BRENDAN CHURCH 4242 BRENDAN LANE, NORTH OLMSTED.  Interment will be with full military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10165 Rawiga Rd., Rittman, OH.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in Jerry's memory to St. Brendan Catholic Parish of North Olmsted, OH or to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106.
