CARMELA BRADHAW
Carmela Bradshaw was born May 12, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio.
She grew up on the near west side of Cleveland, attending church and
school at Saint Rocco Parish on Fulton Road.
Her mother left when she was young, and she and her younger
brother, Anthony and her sister, Rose, had to move in
with their grandmother. Her father was still in her life, but Carmela
took on many of the responsibilities of the household.
Later, her father remarried and the family moved
to Rocky River, Ohio. Carmela attended Rocky River High School.
She was 18 when she married Jerry. They had three children -
Clara, Jerry and Sharon. In those years she worked as
a waitress and enjoyed racing go carts, bowling and dancing.
Carmela was divorced and met Arthur Bradshaw in 1981.
He had three daughters - Denise, Cindy and Susie.
Carm and Art enjoyed bowling, dancing and golf together
and were happily married for 19 years.
Around this time, her granchildren were born - Shannon, Timothy Sean
and Tiffany. She took great pride in them and enjoyed attending
many of their sports activities and other important events in their lives.
Around age 50, she decided to attend Cuyahoga Community
College to learn some new skills. She took accounting and
other business classes and became a bank teller at Huntington Bank.
Carmela and Arthur both retired around 1996. Around that time,
her son, Jerry was married, and another grandchild was added, Nicole.
Art passed from cancer in 2001, but Carmela kept close in
contact with his daughters, Cindy and Denise.
Since 2004, she has added three great grandchildren - Brendan, Miles
and Hobey James.
She lived alone for the remainder of her life. She could no longer
play golf due to her health, but loved watching pro golf on television.
Another hobby over her later years was playing the slot machines,
often going to the casino with family and friends.
Many of her family members went to Las Vegas with her to celebrate
her 70th birthday.
Her generous, compassionate and outgoing personality will be
truly missed by her family and friends!
May she rest in peace.
