Roy Mellert Gedeon Age 89 of Cleveland. Beloved husband of Jeannette (nee Ames). Loving father of Marianne (Wally) Wowk, Patricia (Richard) Volle, Norine (James) Sanniti and John (Shelley) Gedeon. Treasured grandfather of Regina and Valerie (Craig) Coldren, Jennifer (Robert) Wawszkiewicz, Kristen (Michael) Zacharias and Sara, Lisa (Nicholas Stewart), Brian (Meghan) and Megan, John J.,Britney and Nicole (deceased). Adored great grandfather of Riley, Connor, Leah and Ella. Son of the late John and Clara. Brother of the late Delores (James) Hruska. Dear uncle of 11 and friend of many. WW II U.S. Army veteran. Always with an eye for detail, Roy was a mechanical engineer by trade starting at the tank plant by the airport as an experimental engineer, then for Towmotor Co. and Caterpillar Inc. working on transmissions. He also enjoyed photography and music; including playing the accordion, piano and ukulele. He was known for his kindness, strong faith and sense of humor. He loved camping, sailing and traveling. Their cottage at Volunteer Bay gave the family 32 years of joy. Most importantly he cherished his wife of 64 years and the family and friends they made together. Forever the sunshine in our days, he will continue to brighten our lives even when skies are grey. Martens & Son Funeral Home 4175 Rocky River Drive (between Lorain & Puritas) on Tuesday 2-4 6-8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, October 19, 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark Church 15800 Montrose Ave. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Private interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
