Byron Lee
Norwood Sr.
Oct 3, 1959 — May 9, 2026
Cleveland
Byron Lee Norwood Sr., 66, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026. He was the beloved husband to the late Karen Norwood, and father to Byron Jr, Justin (Lanette), and Ashley (Tyrone), and grandfather to Karen.
Byron lived his life by one of his favorite mottos- "REFUSE TO BE DENIED". Born in Dayton , OH his mentality was instilled very early on in his life. And even when all the odds would be stacked against him, he would overcome the challenges and be back on top.
Byron was a basketball star at Trotwood high school. He trained relentlessly to perfect the game of basketball, and he did just that. The only freshmen on the varsity team, Byron was a phenom. He always kept in mind "Good, better, best-never rest-until your good gets better and your better gets best." He later graduated from The University of Cincinnati, and put in years of hard work to obtain his Masters of Criminal Justice degree.
Byron not only lived by these mentalities for himself, but he shared his strength and wisdom with the world. His pride and joy was a prayer group he organized and started for any and everyone that needed prayers, helping many many people.
Byron is survived by his children, grandchildren, sister Laschawn, brothers Jock and Courtney, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his late mother, Clara, father Willie, sister Chantel, and close friends, Mr. and Mrs. Cox.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16th, from 12-2 p.m. at the David Martens and Son Funeral Home at 4175 Rocky River Drive (between Lorain & Puritas) Cleveland, OH 44135.
